by Garrett FriskFive hundred and forty six votes. That's how little Democrat Adam Frisch lost by in his 2022 campaign against U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert, even though numerous election forecasters rated the race as Safe Republican. Unsurprisingly, Frisch announced in February that he would run again for the 3rd congressional district in 2024. His campaign website can be found here. By virtue of his surprisingly strong performance in the 2022 election, the former Aspen city councilor quickly saw his campaign pick up steam; Sol Sandoval, a community organizer who lost the 2022 Democratic primary to Frisch by a razor-thin margin, took herself out of the running in March. But that does not mean Frisch will not face any opposition in his bid for the Democratic nomination. In fact, several other Democrats have already announced campaigns for the 3rd district. Veterinarian Debby Burnett announced in February that she would also run for the 3rd congressional district. Her campaign website can be found here. Burnett previously sought the Democratic nomination in 2022, but failed to reach the ballot. She believed that Frisch lost because he did not appeal to Democratic voters and argued "I understand the people in Colorado’s third district." Mail reception business owner David Karpas is also running as a critic of Frisch. The bio of his campaign Instagram page reads "running for CD3 so Adam Frisch doesn’t have to wear a tie for 2 years." Additionally, organic produce clerk Gary Swing is running under the banner of the minor Unity Party, which has ballot access in Colorado. Swing has run unsuccessfully for various offices in Colorado and Arizona as the nominee of the Unity Party or the Green Party. He ran for Colorado's 3rd district once before, in 2018, as a write-in candidate. His campaign website can be found here. Although the 3rd congressional district contest will be Colorado's marquee race in 2024, some candidates are also declaring their campaigns in other areas of Colorado. In the 4th congressional district, U.S. Marine Corps veteran Ike McCorkle has announced he will challenge Republican Representative Ken Buck for a third time, after previously winning the Democratic nomination for this district in 2020 and 2022. His website can be found here. Meanwhile, artist Dom Waters will make a second attempt to be the Unity Party's nominee for the 1st congressional district after she failed to make the general election ballot in 2022. Her campaign Twitter can be found here. Comments are closed.
